Ren'Py Sync is a feature that allows you to sync your Ren'Py saves and persistent data to a cloud service run to the Ren'Py project. Not all games support Ren'Py Sync, only games created with the latest version of Ren'Py and the Ren'Py Sync SDK.
No account is required. To use Ren'Py sync in a game that supports it, choose "Upload Sync". This will upload your data to the server, and give you a ten-character code. On another device, choose "Download Sync", and enter the code you were given. This will download your data to the device, allowing you to load your saves.
Ren'Py Sync currently returns uploaded data for 1 day, and then deletes it. This is subject to change.
We do not share your data with anyone.
The 10-character code is generated on your computer. The data is encrypted with a key that is generated from that code on your computer, and is sent to the server using a hash of the code. We don't have a way to decrypt your data, or to generate new data, unless you share your code. (Don't do that.)
The server stores a list of codes (so a code can't be repeated), a hash of the game name (to prevent abuse), and your IP address (to prevent abuse). It is possible for us to determine the game, but only if it is a game that we know about.
